Statement of Purpose: Through the implementation of 3D- printed models in the operating room, plastic surgeons are able to visualize and reconstruct key anatomical features for patients seeking an autogenous ear reconstruction or rhinoplasty. The 3D-printed constructs are sterilizable patient-specific, cost-effective, and invaluable in preoperative planning, patient communication and surgical performance. By leveraging open-sourced sculpting software and departmentally available 3D-printers, our team can manufacture affordable, sterilizable, patient-specific medical moulages as an intraoperative model for aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face.
Conclusions: By leveraging software platforms and hardware readily available to consumers, sterilizable, patient-specific anatomic 3D models can be personally, affordably manufactured and used during rhinoplasties or autogenous ear reconstructions.
